The Intellectual Property Office – Have your say in the modernisation of the IPO’s services!

The UK Government has launched a consultation on proposals for the legal changes needed to deliver the Intellectual Property Office’s “One IPO” transformation programme.

The proposed changes will update the law and remove legal barriers, allowing the IPO to be more innovative and deliver world-class digital services. They will also address current inconsistencies between different IP rights. 

Responses to the consultation will help shape the laws underpinning the transformation programme, helping ensure the UK’s IP framework is fit to embrace the opportunities of the future. 

Dids Macdonald, OBE., CEO of ACID said, “If the IPO can deliver the best tools to enable their people to excel in providing outstanding, customer-focussed services and unleash the power of their data to help drive economic growth, this will go a long way to enabling and accelerating UK innovation. If the IPO can achieve global IP leader status, they will achieve their ambition to become an outward facing, collaborative organisation and a leading voice and influence in the world IP environment. This is an ambitious but nevertheless achievable objective of the “Transformation Programme. Time will tell!”
