BRITISH IP DAY, 29th June 2021
This year, Anti Copying in Design (ACID), will join other members of the Alliance for Intellectual Property for British IP Day celebrations virtually, showcasing the multi-faceted contributions Intellectual Property (IP) makes to the UK.
The UK’s creative industries are a success story and as the UK begins to re-open post-lockdown, we are keen to reflect on the significant impact IP rich industries have on UK growth for a positive future that maximises this potential and recognises the successes of our creators.
New Innovation Strategy
In April’s budget, the Government announced its plan to develop a new Innovation Strategy to support and shape economic recovery, post-COVID-19. We expect the strategy to be published in the summer and with IP and innovation being so intrinsically linked, we have made innovation our theme for this year’s British IP Day.
BIPD Celebrations, 29/6/21
Creators, businesses and their representative bodies will share their success stories of skill, creativity and innovation, underpinned by IP and how the best of British creators earn a living, whilst delivering great designs, brands and content that people love and use on a daily basis.
Join Our Roundtables
Join us on four separate roundtables, where topics under discussion will include the new Innovation Strategy, trade and exports, how creators and small businesses can benefit from IP, and how IP rich businesses are embracing AI. We will also be hearing stories throughout the day from creators and businesses such as from the games company JAGEX, who will be discussing the renowned online game, RuneScape, and how its huge popularity and their continuing investment in innovation has been underpinned by IP.
Who Will Take Part?
Together with creators, we are delighted to be joined by:
Rt Hon Amanda Solloway, IP Minister
IP Champion Chi Unwurah MP, Shadow Minister for Digital, Science and Technology
Adam Williams, Director of the International Division at the Intellectual Property Office and Representatives of the IP Attaché network.
They will individually share their thoughts on the importance of IP, innovation and the economy, and highlight how businesses and creators should be celebrated by Government and the economy through IP rich creativity and innovation.
Joining details and further information will follow.
