Attending The January Furniture Show offers an amazing opportunity to those exhibiting to enter the prestigious JFS Awards. Year on year, the bar gets higher. Now in its 8^th year, being the recipient of this award adds significantly to a company’s credentials, recognising the best of the best in five separate categories.

Sustainability is high on the list – an attendee at the Design Council’s “Design the Planet” ongoing project said, “If you are not designing for the planet, what planet are you on?”. Addressing sustainability as a priority is not a “nice to have”, it’s an essential.

Best of British – in a post-pandemic and post-Brexit landscape, increasingly supporting and rewarding British designers and manufacturers is at the forefront in both national and global markets. Celebrating and promoting “Brand British” is something not only to be proud of – but to actively support.

Design Innovation – in the fast-moving landscape such as the furniture sector, good product design in innovation is the DNA running at the heart of its strategy and can  improve business performance and help growth. During the pandemic, we have seen innovative approaches in adaptive designing and manufacturing and the ability to turn ideas into new products and processes.

Global Player – the challenges facing importers have been tough over the past two years – do you focus on imports and how do you ensure any products are tailored to the UK marketplace? Examining strengths in product development, pricing and fulfilment will feature in any importing strategy.
