ACID SUBMISSION TO COPYRIGHT & AI CONSULTATION
Last Call! It is still not too late to respond to the last day of the Government’s consultation, to make your views known if you agree with our message to urge the government not undermine the UK’s precious copyright laws which would allow AI companies to use British creative content without payment or permission.
Tonight (25th Feb) at 23.59 is the deadline for all responses to the consultation to be received, but it is still not too late to support copyright protection in the UK. Please send your comments by email to [email protected] Please also find a template letter to contact your MP here. A united voice is a stronger voice, and we need their advocacy in parliament.
ACID is a member of the Alliance for Intellectual Property and we support their submission and detailed answers to the 47 questions which can be found here ACID’s additional submission and comments can be found here.
Dids Macdonald OBE Chair and Co-founder of ACID said, “Opt Out” does not mean consent. We are fully behind the Creative Rights in AI Coalition’s “Make it Fair” campaigning to make as much noise as possible to ensure that the impressive voices of UK creators are heard above those who plan to erode copyright law by allowing anonymous, unauthorised use by AI businesses without proper control, transparency or remuneration for creators”.
Nick Kounoupias, ACID’s Chief Legal Counsel said, “Should Parliament pass legislation that doesn’t properly balance the peaceful enjoyment of property rights with the public interest then there could well be a challenge in the courts from and on behalf of all IP property owners under section 19 of the Human Rights Act. Accordingly ACID and designers will be carefully monitoring legislative developments and will not hesitate to challenge any attempt to trample upon their human rights”.
Anti Copying in Design (ACID) has joined forces and supports the Creative Rights in AI Coalition which is a broad group of rights holders, AI businesses, and organisations from across the UK creative industries, calling on the Government to spur growth in the creative and tech sectors by protecting copyright.
