Whether you are a commercial or residential designer with a specialism in interiors, garden, kitchen or bathroom design, this requires training, experience and professionalism. All professional designers in these fields will have honed their skills supported by the competencies of best practice. Intellectual property plays a key role in being able to monetise designs by mitigating the risk of copying. By knowing about the laws and what you can do to protect the sweat equity which goes into any new design, this can help provide you with a proactive IP strategy. Businesses, whether micro or macro who are involved with designing accessories for these markets know, only too well, that it is a competitive world out there and lookalikes abound, usually cheaper, made from inferior material and without regard for safety.
Our designers are some of the best in the world and the IP that underpins original design must be protected to ensure growth and certainly not impeded by copying. Unfortunately, the sad fact is that there are those that want to take the fast track to market on your ideas and creativity by using designs without permission. ACID is here to support you and other like-minded creatives as a community to demonstrate our commitment to helping to protect designs and products.
