ACID welcomes new boss for the UK Intellectual Property Office

After 5 years as CEO of Companies House, Tim Moss, CBE., will take up his post as CEO of the UK Intellectual Property Office next month.

Prior to this Tim had spent 10 years holding senior positions within Companies House and his experience of the digital agenda, operational delivery business strategy and corporate policy will stand him in good stead to lead the IPO in its next period of development.

His 12 years’ operational experience within the manufacturing industry will also be reassuring for ACID members as this will provide the vital link between industry and a civil service career where connectivity between the two is critical for success and delivery of the management of IP in all its guises.

In an interview in Civil Service World in 2013 on being asked about Companies House high rankings on its staff expressing confidence in the senior leadership team,Moss fired back that he and his senior team have concentrated on “getting out there and saying: ‘This is what we’re about; this is where we want to take the organisation,’ and giving people an opportunity to ask questions and contribute”.

ACID CEO Dids Macdonald, OBE., said of the appointment:

“It is a challenging time for intellectual property now that Article 50 has been triggered. With so many IP laws to consider Tim will need the steady hand of leadership to juggle all the hurdles he and his team will face. ACID has always had an excellent and positive relationship with the former CEO John Alty and current management board and we look forward to connecting with him on design issues soon after his appointment. We wish him every success in his new role.”
