ACID are delighted to announce that Brynn O’Connell, Founder & CEO of DAUNTLESS, has accepted the invitation to join the ACID Advisory Council. With an extensive background in data science and fashion, Brynn brings a hybrid of experience and knowledge to the ACID Advisory Council which will further bolster ACID’s work, supporting ACID’s membership and campaigning aims.
Accepting the role of ACID Council Member, Brynn said, “ Designers are often unsung architects of culture and progress. With increasing cross-over between fashion and tech, the work that ACID does to advocate and champion creatives across industries feels more important than ever. To use Dids’ excellent metaphor, I’m so excited and honoured to contribute to the incredible work the team at ACID does to help David fight Goliath”.
Laura Newbold Breen, CEO of ACID, said, “I am thrilled to have Brynn on board. The ACID Advisory Council is an invaluable part of our ACID Community. Brynn’s scientific knowledge, paired with exceptional creativity, is a timely addition to our Council’s armoury in the face of AI. I’m sure she will be a big part of helping us tackle the challenges faced by creators head on”.
ACID Co-Founder and Chairman Dids Macdonald, OBE., said, “Our Advisory Council has been wise counsel from the onset, not only as advocates but as critical contributors in discussions to strive for design law reform. With current AI and copyright challenges, we warmly welcome Brynn’s experience, expertise and brushes with copyists to ignite and expand our key objectives to value original design and to strive for stronger protection. Brynn’s inspiring slogan for Dauntless,”Backed by Science, Crafted like Art” says it all. A warm welcome from on behalf of our Council”.
Nick Kounoupias, ACID Chief Counsel and IP Director said: “I’m so pleased to welcome Brynn to the ACID Council. Having worked with her over the last year and with a background in data analysis I know that she has a very different skill set to bring to the team; and as an American citizen also, who has lived in Alaska, Texas and also in Europe, Brynn provides a broader perspective on the role of design in the world. I’m looking forward to hearing her thoughts on design reform and AI in particular as we move towards a brave new world for designers”.
