ACID Supports World Mental Health Day

Every year on the 10th of October, the World Federation for Mental Health recognises the importance of campaigning for better mental health in the world. This year’s theme is ‘Make mental health and well-being for all a global priority.’

There can still be a stigma when discussing mental health. World Mental Health Day is about campaigning and recognising the importance of mental health being treated the same as physical health. No one feels ashamed to say they have a cold, a stomach bug, or a broken bone. But they often do feel too cautious to say they are struggling emotionally or mentally. So many people struggle on through life in silence, dealing with their depression, anxieties, or fears alone. As a world society, we need to put an end to this stigma, allow people to be open about how they’re feeling, and know where to seek help when they need it.

Designers can often struggle with mental health issues. Business taking a dip, fears of overheads, economic downturns. But often it can be their designs or ideas being infringed upon and having no resources or recourse to fight for their rights. This can be especially true in David vs. Goliath situations.

ACID has built a community, where designers can have their exciting moments celebrated and championed. Where you can receive education, knowledge, or support if you find yourself in the distraught position of having been copied. We understand, if you’re a designer, creative, or small business owner, how utterly heartbreaking it can be to not know where to turn when your livelihood is under threat.

Sadly, as a result of the endemic copycat culture, designers have told us, they no longer want to design any longer and businesses have folded because of the strain of defending their rights. The emotional effect is devastating when energy is sapped, and time and funds spent trying to seek redress, whilst the copycats of this world march forward leaving a trail of mayhem behind them. Being copied can be a very lonely time.
