ACID Members triumph in prestigious Design Guild Marks leading the way in British design

The Anti Copying in Design (ACID) team are proud to announce that ACID member Knoll International, designer Marc Newson and ACID member &Bespoke, designer Steve Owens are amongst the winners of one of the top UK accolades, the prestigious Furniture Makers Company 2019 Design Guild Marks.

The Design Guild Mark encompasses two categories, the furniture category and 2D category. Leading industry judges from a wide range of expertise, formed the panel from furniture, hospitality commercial, retail and the media industry. The bar is set high by the judges but, ACID members Steven Owens for &Bespoke and Marc Newson for Knoll International have proved they have the ingenuity and design excellence to lead the way in the furniture category.

Winner Steve Owens from &Bespoke, said “A Design Guild Mark is such a prestigious honour, being recognised alongside the most impressive who’s who in the UK furniture industry is fantastic.  I am extremely proud to have been awarded one for my first chair collection for &Bespoke.”

ACID CEO Dids Macdonald, OBE. added “It is indeed a great privilege and well deserved to be held in such high regard by The Furniture Makers’ Company who lead the way in championing excellence by inspiring some of the most innovative and industry leading designs in Britain to be the best. Many congratulations to all the 2019 DGM Mark winners!”

The high praise they garnered from the judging panel of leading industry professionals was summarised, “The variety and quality of designs applying for the Design Guild Mark always makes for an interesting judging day and, this year, we were pleased to meet many new designers and companies willing to put themselves forward. The insights of our judges, and the challenging questions that they pose, ensure that the award of a Design Guild Mark is something to which to aspire.”
