ACID Ambassador and member Rupert Welch, of Robert Welch Designs, is undertaking the commendable task of riding bicycles up the Thailand coast, from Bangkok to Phuket, all for the worthy cause of raising funds for Azur Aide charity.
Rupert and his friends Mel, James, Hannah and Isaac, will ride a total distance of just under 1000km, on original pushbikes, not E-bikes. They will be attempting 60-130km per day, spanning 11 days in total at the end of October. The adventure will not only be a physically demanding challenge but a great opportunity to explore the beautiful landscapes of Thailand.
The charity they have decided to support is a little known but admirable cause, supporting refugees with much needed food, warm clothes, and female sanitary products. Azur Aide have been responsible for assisting thousands of refugees with much needed essential humanitarian items from Ventimiglia, a choke-hold point on the French-Italian boarder for refugees who have fled from near and far, for all kinds of reasons such as to flee war, persecution and famine.
It can cost as much as €2 for one meal for the charity. All donations go directly to the refugees, rather than getting swallowed up by administration and other costs as with so many other charities; rather, with Azur Aide, all donations are used for their intended source, direct funding and support to refugees in dire need. Rupert is asking for generous assistance in raising £2000 to support this laudable cause, of which 100% will go directly to Azur Aide.
If you would like to support Rupert in his mission to ride from Bangkok to Phuket and support a worthy cause, you can donate any amount, small or large to his Go Fund Me page.
All at ACID wish Rupert and his friends all the best in their challenge and hope they have a fantastic time.
