CALLING DESIGNERS – ATTEND A WEBINAR TO DISCUSS DESIGN COMMUNITY C19 CHALLENGES 15 APRIL 2-4PM
ALL PARTY PARLIAMENTARY GROUP FOR DESIGN
Policy Connect are delighted to invite you to a webinar on coronavirus and the challenges it presents for the design sector, hosted by the All-Party Parliamentary Design and Innovation Group.
The on-going crisis has impacted all areas of the economy, with the creative industries being particularly hit. Despite unprecedented steps being taken by the government to support industry, freelancers and self-employed individuals remain particularly at risk from a loss of commissions and work.
The event will take place on Wednesday 15th April from 2pm until 4pm and will be chaired by Julia Bennett of the Crafts Council.
Dids Macdonald, OBE., CEO of ACID said, “This is an excellent opportunity to raise concerns and issues to parliamentarians directly and I would urge you to make your voice heard. If you can’t attend please let me know and I can raise issues on your behalf and I can submit any specific questions or topics of discussion you may have in advance”.
The event will be held via Zoom. Zoom is a free-to-use web-conferencing programme that can be downloaded here.
Please click the link to join the webinar: https://zoom.us/j/385140861. Alternatively, please enter the meeting ID 385 140 861.
A full agenda will be circulated next week, but topics will include:
- Key pressures coronavirus is having on the design economy
- The impact that government measures are having on businesses and designers
- How we can put new measures in place to enable these businesses to focus and start trading once things return to a state of near normality.
A full report of the meeting will be taken, and Jack Tindale of Policy Connect will put together a paper/statement on the APDIG website for further consultation with our parliamentary members.
