We know the work of a jewellery designer begins in the mind.  A new idea, a spark, unrestrained by convention, history or protocol.  The creative gift you have distinguishes you from other jewellers and the designs and creations that you produce are the result of your talent, skill and training.

Unfortunately, there are people and businesses that want to ride on your talent and take short-cuts and fast track their way to success.  Yes, they want to take your ideas and creativity and copy or “adapt” them.  A©ID is here to support you and other like minded creatives so that together we can demonstrate our commitment to protecting creative designs and products.

By becoming a member of A©ID, you will clearly and powerfully show that you value your creative gift and work, and you expect others to do the same.  By using the Member of A©ID logos and other creative assets and statements on your emails, website, presentations and communications you will be politely but firmly expressing belief in yourself, and the value you place on your designs and work.

Another simple and positive way you can practically underline the value you place on your design work is to use the IP Databank to upload and deposit a copy of all your designs and creations as they come to life.  This simple and very cost-effective platform provides you with an independent and verified means of proving you originated the work and when.  Certificates can be printed and produced if needed.  The ACID certificate is endorsed by PIPCU and signed by ACID Chief Counsel Nick Kounoupias.

A©ID can also assist you with template legal agreements that will ensure your position on how intellectual property should be respected and handled and that this is made clear to potential collaborators, business partners or trade customers.  Our template agreements are a cost-effective way of getting things right, especially when starting out in business and every penny counts.  We have secured special arrangements with legal affiliates with an initial free consultation and they are particularly useful when you find out your designs may have been copied and can guide you in the best way to deal with the situation and take matters forward if needed.

A©ID has been campaigning to have IP law strengthened and we have already had significant success enshrined in the 2014 IP Act – which makes the intentional infringement of a Registered Design a criminal offence, punishable by up to 10 years in prison.  Individual directors are also liable. However, as we prepare to leave the EU more work needs to be done, especially in connection with the potential loss of EU unregistered Design Rights.  By joining A©ID, you will be supporting this very important process.
