In this Digital Age, there is an increasing tendency for products and services to come and go in a flash. However, if they are of enduring quality and prestige, and the intellectual property is properly protected, then they will survive and, indeed, flourish on a global stage for generations to come.
On the morning of Wednesday 1 May we are hosting our Third Annual IP & Tech Conference in Glasgow. The theme of this year’s conference is “Protecting Intellectual Property on the Global Stage”. We will hear from a wide range of speakers from industry to tech start-ups including ScotlandIS, AG Barr, Snapdragon, Anti-copying in Design (ACID) and Curious Chip who have agreed to share their war stories of the battles won and lost in seeking to ensure that the value in their IP is not unfairly exploited either at home or abroad.
Speakers and topics include:
- Stephen Taylor, Legal Counsel, AG Barr, talking about the battle to protect ‘Scotland’s national drink’.
- Sukhvir Dhillon, Managing Director, Curious Chip, looking at the journey of a tech start-up and the importance of protecting their IP to maintain their market position.
- Rachel Jones, Founder, Snapdragon IP, who will share the story of her work in protecting brands online.
- Polly Purvis, titan of the Scottish digital world and CEO of ScotlandIS, who will look at the IP and tech industry in Scotland over the years and the changes, challenges and opportunities.
The keynote address will be provided by Dids Macdonald OBE, Chief Executive, Anti-Copying in Design (ACID).
No matter what will happen during these turbulent political and economic times we need to maintain the value of our IP when trading on the global stage. We hope that you are able to join us to hear from the fantastic array of presenters we have secured and network with others working in this area.
Our previous two events have been sell-outs, with standing room only, so if you would like to reserve a free place for you or a colleague please RSVP using this link or contact the Events team at [email protected].
