Brexit Survey – ACID Winner Announced!

Congratulations to Julie Watson of Julie Watson Studio seen here with the £100 Love2Shop vouchers she won following the recent ACID Survey Draw. The evidence we gathered from our recent Brexit survey has been invaluable in supporting our call to Government and policy officials to ensure that UK designers do not lose out when the UK leaves the EU and there is, potentially a calamitous situation if EU unregistered design protection is lost.  100 responses were received though very few of us were surprised that 100% wanted to not only retain EU unregistered design protection but agreed this should be for a term of £15 years.

After all, said CEO  Dids Macdonald,Why should copyright protection last for 70 years, what is the difference in creativity between a furniture designer and an artist?”

For further information on responses please see here It also came as no surprise that 90% of those surveyed said that they thought that copying was blatant.

On winning, her £100 prize, Julie Watson said,“I was very happy to respond to the ACID Survey because I believe it is important for UK designers to express their concerns about the potential loss of EU unregistered designs, I am even happier winning £100 of vouchers! Makes it double worthwhile!”

About Julie Watson Designs in her own words, “I create illustrations and patterns from my studio in middle England, UK.   About 2 years ago I challenged myself to understand the digital world of designing, which wasn’t really in place when I trained in Textile Design in the 1990s.  I enjoy bringing together my love of drawing with the humour and creativity I use when making props and writing scripts for panto. Not many things are as cathartic as a good show that makes you laugh out loud.  I truly believe having laughter and smiles in your life is essential for good health, both mental and physical.  It’s not just the script– a good prop can bring a giggle and a smile, even to the actor using it or reacting to it.”

“I’m currently setting up my website and adding new products such as the headover that I’m wearing in the attached photo printed with my own design “Atomic Splash” also featured as framed behind me but am very excited about taking some time out to have a spend in town.”
