Hot from receiving one of the most prestigious awards in the hotel design and hospitality sector “‘Best in British Product Design’  at theThe Brit Awards 2021, is Charlotte Raffo and the team at Monkey Puzzle Tree. The winning design was ‘Metamorphosis’, a stunning linen fabric inspired by myths, legends and gothic fairly-tales collaboratively inspired and co-designed with artist Kirsty Greenwood. This is a fabric woven in Scotland and screen printed in Carlisle. Charlotte talks with artist Kirsty and shares a video here about the design and manufacturing that went into creating this gorgeous design  ‘Metamorphosis’.

CEO Dids Macdonald, OBE of ACID said, “All the ACID team are so proud of your achievements, many congratulations. Watching the video about its creation is a fascinating journey, recognising shapes in random fashion and then taking an abstract picture and making something recognisable out of it using a marbling effect. Discovering the combination of three colours they wanted to work with was inspired by an under watery theme.”

Charlotte Raffo, Founder and Director of The Monkey Puzzle Tree, said, “It’s quite amazing as a tiny business to win this award. We never set out to follow a trend or design for other people and often we are wilfully different! Everything we do is completely authentic and made locally. So it’s lovely to be recognised, and something we never expected, and I hope this means we can increase our support for our artists and local mills in future.”
