Exhibitions & Events

ACID has created strategic alliances with many exhibitions and design happenings. ACID statistics reveal that 86% of copying incidences experienced by members were discovered at exhibitions. ACID’s continued strategy is to offer strong, grass roots support at these venues.

There is a growing awareness and need for tangible organiser support on the issues surrounding intellectual property infringement, and the potentially devastating effect on business and commerce. We are delighted to have the support of the below-mentioned events.

Accredited Exhibition

Accreditation is working towards raising standards and creating a safer marketing environment which exhibitors and visitors will want to return to. It is sending a strong message to copyists that ACID Accredited Organisers have a zero tolerance policy toward plagiarism. During an ACID Accredited Exhibition ACID has a stand at the event, a private office for confidential meetings, and signage posted throughout the fairgrounds. The organiser signs the Code of Conduct and distributes the ACID exhibition tips and protocol to exhibitors.

How do we support exhibitors? COPYING is one of the biggest threats facing originators of design-led products before the designer/manufacturer can reap the rewards of new product investment. ACID supports all exhibitors at grassroots at ACID Accredited Exhibitions by offering a free mediation framework for complaint handling. Other benefits include one-to-one advice on design protection. On an on-going basis ACID supports its members with practical tools of self-help, free initial specialist IP advice underpinned by the powerful brand of deterrence.

ACID Accreditation…

  • allows organisers to make a public statement about their attitude to intellectual property theft
  • shows support for the design industry and deters the display of copied products, which can lower an exhibition’s standards
  • deters copying by supporting and expanding the ACID brand of deterrence, providing a positive add-on value for exhibitors
  • provides valuable, free legal advice to all exhibitors throughout the duration of the exhibition
  • demonstrates through grass roots, intellectual property education during an exhibition, a warning to the next generation of designers to be more aware about the potentially devastating consequences of intellectual property theft and the need to protect their designs
  • allows the organiser to take a neutral role by offering the ACID protocol to facilitate intellectual property problem solving
  • gives third party endorsement through all ACID marketing initiatives naming ACID accredited show organisers who are prepared to invest in creating a safer trading environment and publicising a zero tolerance of plagiarism
  • provides a comprehensive and confidential legal and general report to accredited organisers, detailing any incidents that occurred at the exhibition, how they were dealt with, together with all relevant contact details. ACID will then arrange to meet the organiser(s) to discuss how the benefits of accreditation can be developed to offer additional add-on value to exhibitors
